On September 1, 2023, Professor Xie, Wenru, Deputy Director of the Pathology Department at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States, visited the Xi'an Regional Medical Laboratory, affiliated with the Vice President Unit of Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (referred to as "Xi'an Medical Laboratory"), for a visit and exchange.

Professor Hao, Xiaoke, Chief Scientist of the Xi'an Regional Medical Laboratory, and Professor Xu, Xiuli, Deputy General Manager and Director of the Microbiology Department, accompanied Professor Xie, Wenru on a detailed tour of the construction of the core laboratory at the center. They gained a full understanding of the operation of domestically advanced intelligent medical testing laboratories, clinical molecular laboratories, mass spectrometry laboratories, and the quality and safety management department.

In the microbiology and drug sensitivity laboratory, Professor Xie, Wenru highly praised the laboratory's platform construction in terms of automation, intelligence, and informatization. He pointed out that the clinical microbiology department of Xi'an Medical Laboratory has made significant contributions to clinical practice by demonstrating exceptional capabilities and diagnostic proficiency in detecting difficult infections such as tuberculosis and fungi. He also noted that the laboratory is at the forefront of the industry in various projects including microbiological testing and autoimmune disease testing.

Professor Xie, Wenru and experts from the microbiology department engaged in an in-depth discussion on the integration of pathological diagnosis with clinical microbiological testing techniques for the diagnosis of infectious diseases. They emphasized that the diagnosis of infectious diseases requires concerted efforts from clinical microbiologists, pathologists, and clinicians.

Professor Xie, Wenru expressed that the construction philosophy of the Xi'an Regional Medical Laboratory is forward-thinking, and its construction achievements are remarkable. He stated that the laboratory is leading in terms of the number, quality, and technological level of testing projects.
