陕西省地方病防治研究所属于国家举办的公共卫生中的地方病、皮肤性病和麻风病预防控机构。成立于1956年，前身为陕西省黑热病防治所，隶属于陕西省卫生和健康委员会，承担全省大骨节病、克山病、碘缺乏病、地方性氟中毒、地方性砷中毒以及麻风病、性病、皮肤病的防治工作的流行病学调查，防治方案的研究和起草，防治工作人员的培训，防治工作的督导落实，病情的监测和评估工作，是全省地方病、麻风性病的防治科研中心、病情监测中心、技术指导中心及人员培训中心。目前内设科室12个，人员编制100人，目前在职职工88人，其中专业技术人员66人占75%，高级专业技术人员16人占18%，中级专业技术人员24人占27%。本科以上学历77人占87.5%，其中博士1人，硕士23人。
建所以来，我所先后获得国家和省级科技成果奖20余项。2001年以来，被省委组织部、人社厅、卫计委评为“人事制度改革先进单位”；被省委省政府评为“陕西省先进集体”，被省政府评为“十五、十一五、十二五全省地方病防治先进单位”；先后被西安市委及省委省政府命名为“市级文明单位”、“省级文明单位”及“省级文明单位标兵”；3次被省扶贫办评为全省扶贫先进单位；先后14年获得省卫生厅、卫计委、卫生健康委委直属单位“优秀领导班子”和“年度目标责任考核优秀单位”称号。
