Experts from Shanghai University of Political Science and Law Came to Investigate the Development of International Medical Exchanges

 

On the afternoon of March 11, 2024, Wang, Lihua, a professor at the International Law College of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, and her team visited Shaanxi to conduct research on major national philosophy and social issues. The symposium was attended by Jiao, Fuyong, Vice President of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and Head of the International Cooperation and Exchange Center of the SCO Hospital Cooperation Alliance; Li, Fangmin, Vice Dean of the Northwest University Medical College; Wang, Hui, Director of the International Department of Xi'an Traditional Chinese Medicine Encephalopathy Hospital; and Yao, Hongmei, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University. Wang, Meng, Secretary-General of the SCO Hospital Cooperation Alliance, also participated online to provide guidance.

At the meeting, Professor Wang, Lihua introduced that the purpose of the research was to explore the legal pathways and legal guarantees for fostering closer cooperation in the health sector of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) by deeply understanding the practices, experiences, and issues faced by hospitals in international medical exchanges. Representatives from the three hospitals discussed the main work they have undertaken in international medical exchanges in recent years, including difficulties and bottlenecks encountered. Hou, Xi, Head of the Academic Department of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, presented the main achievements of the association in leveraging its advantages to build domestic and international medical exchange platforms.

During the exchange session, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on how to build an efficient and smooth legal mechanism supported by the rule of law and establish a closer health community within the SCO. Secretary-General Wang, Meng provided guidance on issues encountered by hospitals in international exchanges and cooperation, offering constructive opinions and suggestions.

Through this symposium, participants were able to learn from the successful experiences of local hospitals in international medical exchanges. Additionally, guidance from Secretary-General Wang, Meng and other experts clarified the direction and provided implementation pathways for the specialized construction work of the first batch of friendly hospitals within the SCO Hospital Cooperation Alliance. The improvement and refinement of related legal mechanisms will also support further exploration and advancement of exchanges and cooperation with Central Asian countries, contributing to the construction of a closer SCO community.

After the symposium, the research team visited Northwest University Medical College and Xi'an Traditional Chinese Medicine Encephalopathy Hospital.
