The 2024 Shaanxi Provincial 5th Obstetrics and Reproductive Medicine Academic Exchange Conference, organized by the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, was successfully held.

From October 26-27, the "2024 Shaanxi Provincial 5th Obstetrics and Reproductive Medicine Academic Exchange Conference" was held in the historic city of Xi'an. Jointly hosted by the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and the School of Medicine of Northwest University, and organized by Northwest University Affiliated Angel Women's and Children's Hospital, the conference brought together over 30 national experts and scholars to focus on advancements in reproductive medicine and obstetrics. Attendees explored discipline transformation under the new demographic landscape to promote high-quality maternal and child health development. Over 500 grassroots medical workers participated in person, while more than 30,000 joined online via livestream.

 

This academic event marked the first major collaboration between Xi'an Angel Women's and Children's Hospital and Northwest University following the hospital's affiliation with the university. It signaled the start of a partnership aimed at making the hospital a regionally renowned, top-tier institution in the province. The collaboration aims to harness the strengths of both parties, creating a shared innovation model and transforming the hospital into a nationally recognized research-focused university hospital with distinctive specialties. This model strives to enhance the distribution of quality healthcare resources and support the rapid development of maternal and child health at the grassroots level, providing families with high-quality, internationalized obstetric and gynecological care.

 

At the opening ceremony, Professor Jiao, Fuyong, Honorary President of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, and Professor Zhao, Gang, Dean of the School of Medicine at Northwest University, delivered speeches. Wang, Yaqin, Chair of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and President of Xi'an Angel Women's and Children's Hospital, highlighted the hospital's decade-long journey of professional growth. Wang noted the hospital’s achievements in discipline construction, talent development, and complex case management, as well as its commitment to quality service. The hospital has established multidisciplinary clinics and standardized treatment protocols, resulting in a steady increase in outpatient visits, hospital admissions, annual births, and capacity for handling complex surgeries and critical care for mothers and newborns. Annually, the hospital hosts numerous academic events and collaborates with over 70 grassroots hospitals, offering technical support, telemedicine consultations, and hands-on clinical training to enhance regional maternal and child healthcare.

 

The two-day conference featured 28 specialized presentations. Experts and professors delved into fundamental research, technological advancements, and both national and international challenges in obstetrics and reproductive medicine, discussing these topics from multiple perspectives. With content spanning foundational medical science, case studies, cutting-edge theories, and clinical guidelines, the conference provided a rich blend of theoretical insights and practical applications, offering a high-level academic experience with broad perspectives and actionable guidance for attendees.
