On September 28, 2024, the inaugural meeting and first academic conference of the Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Thyroid Specialty Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial Medical Exchange Promotion Association were successfully held in Tongchuan, Shaanxi. Hosted by the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and organized by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine's Sun, Simiao Hospital and the Tongchuan Thyroid Disease Prevention and Treatment Center, the event was attended by more than 100 experts and scholars from over 30 medical institutions across the province.

Chen, Zhao, President of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association; Fan, Shengli, Deputy Director of the Tongchuan Traditional Chinese Medicine Development Center; Zhang, Baowen, Deputy Director of the Tongchuan Science and Technology Bureau; Liang, Xinmin, Vice Chairman of the Tongchuan Association for Science and Technology; Liu, Zhengjun, Party Secretary of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine's Sun, Simiao Hospital; and representatives from Xi'an Jiaotong University's First Affiliated Hospital, the Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, and the Shaanxi Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, among others, participated in the conference.

During the meeting, Qi, Shuo, Dean of the Thyroid Disease Hospital at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine's Sun, Simiao Hospital, was appointed as the Committee Director. Director Qi, Shuo made a commitment speech, stating that the committee's development goals aimed to achieve a linkage, two enhancements, three transformations, and four formations to promote the comprehensive development of integrated Traditional Chinese and Western medicine for thyroid diseases. His approach highlighted deepening the integration of Chinese and Western medicine concepts, strengthening talent and team building, advancing scientific research and innovation, optimizing medical services, and enhancing international exchange and cooperation. This multi-dimensional stance aims to continuously improve diagnostic and treatment levels, optimize service processes, and increase patient satisfaction to support the global thyroid health initiative.

At the academic conference, 13 experts from Xi'an Jiaotong University School of Pharmacy, the Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine's Affiliated Hospital, Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine's Second Affiliated Hospital, Xi'an International Medical Center Hospital, Xi'an Jiaotong University's First Affiliated Hospital, Xi'an Medical College's Affiliated Hospital, and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine's Sun, Simiao Hospital, delivered lectures and provided commentary.
