On October 12, 2024, the inaugural meeting and first academic conference of the Rural and Community Medicine Research Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, hosted by the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and organized by Xi'an Medical University, was successfully held in Xi'an. The event was attended by Chen, Zhao, President of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association; Gong, Shouping, President of Xi'an Medical University; Li, Yanming, former Deputy Inspector of the Shaanxi Health Commission; and more than 100 experts and scholars from over 50 medical institutions across various cities and counties in the province, including affiliated hospitals of Xi'an Medical University and the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiao Tong University.

 

During the founding session, the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association convened the inaugural meeting of the Rural and Community Medicine Research Committee, presenting honorary chair, advisor, chair, vice-chair, secretary-general, and deputy secretary-general appointments to relevant individuals.

 

In his statement, the newly elected chair, Wang, Shengyu, reviewed the national and international development and significance of rural and community medicine. He outlined detailed plans for the committee's next steps, pledging his commitment to all committee activities, including organizing academic exchange events and conducting grassroots research on the real needs of rural and community medicine. He expressed his dedication to contributing his knowledge and efforts to guide the committee's development.

 

During the academic session, 11 prominent experts and scholars from the province delivered lectures on various topics and shared insights on diagnosis, treatment, and best practices in rural and community medicine. The event attracted nearly 300 attendees from the rural and community medicine sector and related fields online, providing participants with rich academic knowledge and valuable networking opportunities, and receiving widespread praise.

 

This conference provided a high-quality platform for experts and scholars in rural and community medicine and related fields to exchange and explore ideas, fostering innovation and development in the discipline. The success of this event marked a significant milestone in the development of the rural and community medicine field, laying a valuable foundation for future conferences and contributing to the growth of healthcare services in rural and community medicine.
