International Exchange | Medical Delegation from Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association Visits Nepal

At the invitation of General Arun, President of the Nepal Paediatric Society (NEPAS), a medical delegation of eight experts led by Professor Jiao Fuyong—Honorary President of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SIMEPA) and recipient of NEPAS’s Friendship Contribution Award—visited Kathmandu, Nepal from May 20 to 24, 2025. The visit focused on academic exchanges in hospital management, talent cultivation, discipline development, and clinical techniques. The delegation successfully participated in both the China-Nepal Scientific and Academic Conference and the 21st International Paediatric Conference of Nepal, marking a new milestone in China-Nepal medical collaboration through high-level academic sharing and in-depth cooperation.

Both major events—the “China-Nepal Scientific and Academic Conference” on May 21 and the “21st International Paediatric Conference of Nepal” on May 22—garnered significant attention from Nepal’s medical community, with past NEPAS presidents in attendance. General Arun and Professor Jiao delivered speeches at the opening ceremonies, jointly affirming the importance of China-Nepal medical exchanges and highlighting pediatrics as a key entry point for deepening clinical knowledge-sharing and research collaboration. SIMEPA experts were invited to deliver academic presentations, which sparked active discussions and received unanimous praise from participants. The conferences drew more than 400 medical professionals from 11 countries, including China, the UK, the US, and Russia.

During the visit, a milestone was achieved in bilateral cooperation as SIMEPA signed two “Medical Science Cooperation Agreements” with the Nepal Paediatric Society and the Nepal Research and Innovation Foundation. These agreements outline in-depth collaboration in areas such as expert exchange, specialty development, talent training, and scientific research, supporting the high-quality development of medical cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The delegation was also invited to visit Mulpani Hospital and Kanti Children’s Hospital, where they conducted joint consultations with local medical staff, further promoting mutual understanding and practical collaboration.
