5th China-Switzerland (Geneva) TCM Center International Forum on the Inheritance, Innovation, and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine Successfully Held

On the afternoon of May 23, the 5th International Forum on “Inheritance, Innovation, and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM),” hosted by Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine, organized by its Affiliated Hospital, and co-organized by the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, was successfully held at the Academic Lecture Hall on the 6th floor of the Mingyi Hall of the Affiliated Hospital. Leaders and representatives from the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, the China-Switzerland TCM Center (Geneva), Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine, and its Affiliated Hospital attended the forum and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony and expert presentation sessions were moderated by Chang Tao, Director of the Medical Department, and Tan Longwang, Vice President of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Hospital of the Affiliated Hospital.

With the theme of “Mutual Learning and Integrated Development,” the forum adopted a hybrid format combining online and offline participation. Distinguished speakers included:

  • Professor Mi      Liehan, Director of the Mi Bo Rang Institute at Shaanxi Provincial      Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who shared multiple clinical      diagnosis and treatment cases.

  • Professor Dai      Jingzhang, Advisor to the China-Germany TCM Center (Bad Kötzting), who      presented on the integrated Chinese-Western medicine ward model at      Germany’s Kötzting Hospital.

  • Jan Hovorka,      Chair of the European TCM Center (Czech Republic), who discussed the      application of TCM in Europe.

  • Wang Boa’ai,      Vice President of the BRICS Strategic Projects International Alliance      (Russia), who introduced developments of TCM in Russia.

  • Chief      Physician An Junming from Xi’an Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine,      who shared findings on the mechanisms and clinical applications of      acupuncture in obesity treatment.

The forum attracted over 1,000 experts, scholars, key hospital personnel, and graduate students from both China and abroad, who gathered to explore new opportunities for the inheritance, innovation, and international cooperation in TCM.

As a cultural treasure of the Chinese nation, TCM embodies millennia of wisdom and practical experience, playing an irreplaceable role in safeguarding human health. This international academic forum aimed to build a broader platform for gathering global expertise and strength to address both the challenges and opportunities in the development of TCM. Moving forward, the Affiliated Hospital of Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine and the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association will continue to leverage their professional strengths, use TCM as a bridge for cultural and medical exchange, expand international collaboration, and jointly contribute to a new chapter in the inheritance and innovative development of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
