On July 4, 2025, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University held a pre-departure meeting for the 11th batch of the “Group-Based” Medical Aid Team to Tibet and the 12th batch of the Medical Aid Team to Malawi.

Guo, Cheng, Associate Chief Physician of Hepatobiliary Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University and Chair of the Liver Tumor MDT Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, together with Meng, Qiang from Neurosurgery, Song, Yinxue from the Emergency Center, Yao, Xiaobao from Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, and Lu, Xinlan from Gastroenterology, formed a five-member team to carry out a new round of “group-based” medical aid work in Tibet.

Wu, Qian, Associate Chief Technician of the Clinical Laboratory Department at the same hospital and Member of the Clinical Laboratory Committee of the Association, together with Li, Long from Obstetrics and Gynecology, Zhang, Jingping from Medical Imaging, and Liu, Lin from the Department of Anesthesiology, were selected for the 12th batch of the China Medical Aid Team to Malawi, undertaking comprehensive, multidisciplinary medical assistance.

On behalf of the Tibet medical aid team, Guo, Cheng solemnly pledged that all team members would carry forward the fine tradition of being “undaunted by hypoxia and hardships,” bring advanced medical technology and management concepts to the Tibetan region, and strive to improve the healthcare services in Ali Prefecture.

On behalf of the overseas medical aid team, Li, Long stated that, in the face of challenges such as drug shortages and epidemic risks, the team would safeguard the health of the African people with superb medical skills, uphold the principle of combining “blood transfusion” with “blood production,” convey China’s goodwill with benevolence and dedication, and faithfully fulfill the mission of serving as a bridge of friendship between China and Africa.
