Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association Facilitates China–Nepal Medical Cooperation and Exchange

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal, the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association continued to deepen bilateral medical cooperation and exchange, opening a new chapter of collaboration. On August 1, the "China–Nepal Academic Exchange Meeting" was successfully held at Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital, with Prof. Ram Hari Chapagain, President-Elect of the Nepal Pediatric Society, and Secretary-General Santosh Adhikari invited to attend.

The meeting was chaired by Prof. Jiao, Fuyong, Honorary President of the Association, and Prof. Duan, Jianglong, Vice President of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital, delivered a speech, providing a detailed overview of the hospital’s more than 80 years of development and its recent innovations. Over 60 representatives, including officials from the Association, hospital department heads, and medical staff, attended the event.

During the meeting, Prof. Ram Hari Chapagain shared Nepal’s practical experience on the prevention and treatment of dengue and chikungunya, as well as research progress on breastfeeding and child health. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on these topics. A three-year cooperation agreement was also signed, laying a solid foundation for deeper collaboration in the fields of medicine and computer science. During their visit, the Nepalese medical experts also toured the neonatal ward and other departments of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital, gaining a deeper understanding of the institution.

This visit by Nepalese experts followed the delegation of the Association’s experts to Kathmandu on May 20, where they participated in the “China–Nepal Science and Technology Academic Conference” and the “21st Nepal International Pediatrics Conference,” engaging in academic exchanges on hospital management, talent cultivation, discipline development, and clinical techniques. Taking academic exchange as a bridge, the event not only benefited the people of both countries but also marked a solid step forward in China–Nepal medical cooperation at the important milestone of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
