Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association’s Liver Tumor MDT Committee Promotes Successful Convening of the First Multicenter Oncology Academic Conference in Ngari Prefecture
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the Liver Tumor MDT Online Exchange Conference—hosted by the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and co-organized by Ngari Prefecture People’s Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University—was successfully held on August 21, 2025.
The conference invited Professor Yu Hengchao from the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University to deliver a lecture on “New Advances and Prospects in Systemic Treatment of Advanced Liver Cancer.” Multiple MDT teams from Ngari Prefecture People’s Hospital, Gansu Provincial People’s Hospital, Hanzhong 3201 Hospital, and the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University shared and discussed liver tumor-related cases in depth.
This MDT exchange conference, by leveraging online connections to overcome geographic barriers, promoted the downward extension of high-quality medical resources. It enabled local residents on the plateau to enjoy expert joint diagnosis and treatment “at their doorstep,” while provincial hospital experts’ detailed case analyses and discussions fully played the role of “guidance and mentorship.” It was a vivid practice of the patient-centered multidisciplinary collaborative diagnosis and treatment model.
As a member of the 11th batch of the Shaanxi Aid-Tibet Medical Team, Associate Professor Guo Cheng, Director of the Liver Tumor MDT Committee of the Association and from the Liver Tumor Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, stated that they will keep in mind their mission and responsibility, always adhering to the “people-centered” approach, and integrate more new technologies and concepts into medical practice on the plateau. The goal is not only to treat and save lives, but also to pass on skills and share experience—striving to build a “medical team that cannot be taken away,” so that the light of health may shine upon every family.
