SIMEPA Empowers Nuclear Industry 417 Hospital’s Oncology Department to Achieve a New Breakthrough in Cancer Care
Since the Oncology Department of the Nuclear Industry 417 Hospital (a municipal key specialty construction project) was approved on September 5, 2025 to participate in the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association’s targeted public welfare program for “Improving the Quality of Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment and Promoting the Downward Flow of Medical Resources,” the department has achieved comprehensive improvements in diagnostic capability, service quality, and discipline development under the precise support of the Shaanxi Provincial Cancer Hospital. This has enabled cancer patients in Lintong and surrounding areas of Xi’an to access high-quality provincial-level medical services close to home.
After the launch of this public welfare program, the Shaanxi Provincial Cancer Hospital provided strong support by establishing a regular expert-stationing mechanism. Every Thursday morning, Director Li, Lina of the Department of Medical Oncology and Director Zhao, Jin of the Department of Radiotherapy take turns visiting the Nuclear Industry 417 Hospital to offer authoritative one-on-one consultations for patients. They also conduct teaching ward rounds, providing comprehensive guidance based on real cases—from diagnosis and staging to treatment planning—directly advancing the hospital’s overall capability in comprehensive anti-cancer treatment.
Multi-dimensional Empowerment to Build a Standardized Oncology Team
In addition to hands-on clinical guidance, the expert team has systematically carried out standardized oncology training, covering guideline interpretation, analysis of complex cases, and more. These efforts have focused on strengthening the standardized diagnostic thinking and practical skills of young physicians. Under the leadership of Department Director Wang, Kan, the Oncology Department has established a close MDT (multidisciplinary team) discussion mechanism with the Surgery, Imaging, and Pathology Departments of Shaanxi Provincial Cancer Hospital. Through joint online and on-site consultations, scientific and individualized treatment plans have been developed for complex cases, further improving the department’s diagnostic and treatment system.
The effectiveness of the public welfare program is ultimately reflected in tangible benefits for patients. With targeted support from the expert team, the Oncology Department of the Nuclear Industry 417 Hospital has recently succeeded in diagnosing and treating multiple critically ill and difficult cases, marking a new milestone in the hospital’s capabilities in diagnosing complex tumors, managing critical conditions, and carrying out multidisciplinary collaboration. The program has successfully achieved its original mission of “two-way empowerment and smooth referral channels.”
This collaboration has injected strong momentum into the development of the Oncology Department of the Nuclear Industry 417 Hospital. In the future, the department will continue to rely on this high-quality platform to refine medical skills, optimize patient services, and translate high-quality medical resources into a robust force that protects public health, providing cancer patients in the region with higher-quality and more compassionate medical care.
