SIMEPA Designated Lead Institution of the Medical Science and Technology Innovation Committee of the Belt and Road (Shaanxi) Alliance

On November 4, 2025, the International Symposium on Technology Transfer and Innovation Cooperation in Biomedicine & Agriculture—part of the Qinchuan Innovation Forum series—was grandly held in Xi’an. As a co-organizer, the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SIMEPA) was invited to participate and was officially designated as the lead institution of the Medical Science and Technology Innovation Committee of the Belt and Road International Technology Transfer and Innovation Cooperation (Shaanxi) Alliance, establishing a new platform for international collaboration in medical science and technology innovation in Shaanxi Province.

With the theme “Technology Empowering the Silk Road, Innovation Driving Health,” the symposium attracted more than 300 Chinese and international guests. Participants included government representatives and experts from Belarus, Pakistan, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and other countries; representatives from organizations such as the China–Arab States and ASEAN International Technology Transfer Centers; members of the Belt and Road (Shaanxi) Innovation Cooperation Alliance and the Silk Road Bio-Health Agriculture Industry Alliance; as well as representatives from research institutes, enterprises, associations, and media outlets. Guests engaged in in-depth discussions on building international science and technology cooperation bases and multi-dimensional technology transfer systems, sharing global experiences and frontier practices in biomedicine and agricultural health.

As a governing member of the Alliance and the newly appointed lead institution of the Medical Science and Technology Innovation Committee, SIMEPA advanced several major collaborations during the event, deepening international medical cooperation:

Signing an International Science and Technology Cooperation Letter of Intent
SIMEPA co-signed an MoU with the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University and Prof. Peter Timashev of Moscow State First Medical University, strengthening China–foreign collaborative innovation in medical scientific research.

Supporting Member Institutions in Joining the Industry Alliance
SIMEPA recommended Shaanxi Sannuo-Fule Technology Group to join the Silk Road (Yangling) Bio-Health Agriculture Industry Alliance. The group’s technical representative delivered a keynote speech titled “Exploring New Blue Oceans in Bio-Health and Co-creating a Global Health Industry Future,” sharing innovations in functional foods and nutritional health products.

Building a Bridge for Government–Enterprise Cooperation
SIMEPA organized and accompanied a Thai medical group to conduct in-depth visits to local enterprises and institutions, including Xi’an Dayi Medical Group and Shaanxi Kangtuo Medical. Both sides held discussions on international cooperation mechanisms, product certification, and overseas market expansion, focusing on aligning with Shaanxi’s strengths in medical technology and R&D. The visits resulted in a preliminary consensus to jointly explore markets in Southeast Asia and Central Asia.

Being named the lead institution of the Committee represents significant recognition of SIMEPA’s industry influence and overall capabilities. It further positions the Association as a vital connector for global medical innovation cooperation. Moving forward, SIMEPA will continue to uphold its core values of “Integrity, Pragmatism, Harmony, and Innovation,” building a world-class medical exchange and cooperation platform based on mutual learning, openness, co-creation, and shared development. By deepening cross-sector collaboration, supporting scientific research innovation, promoting industrial upgrading, and accelerating international technology transfer, SIMEPA will help bring China’s high-quality health technology achievements to the world and contribute to global health development.
