SIMEPA Congenital Heart Disease Committee Established; Second Western China CHD Academic Conference Held Concurrently

On November 2, 2025, the “Founding Conference of the Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SIMEPA) and the Second Western China CHD Academic Conference” was successfully held in Xi’an. The event was hosted by SIMEPA and organized by Xijing Hospital of the Air Force Medical University. More than 120 cardiovascular experts and scholars from over ten medical institutions across and beyond the province gathered to discuss advances in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart disease (hereinafter “CHD”).

During the founding ceremony, democratic elections were held. Prof. Gu, Chunhu, from the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital (Xijing Hospital) of the Air Force Medical University, was elected Chair of the Committee. Director Yi, Dinghua and Director Liu, Jincheng were appointed Honorary Chairs. Six experts, including Gao, Gailan and He, Li, were elected Vice Chairs. Su, Jie was appointed Secretary-General, and Zuo, Qian and Li, Jingxian were appointed Deputy Secretaries-General.

In his inaugural remarks, Chair Gu, Chunhu stated that the Committee will fully leverage its platform strengths to establish a province-wide bridge for communication and professional development among CHD specialists, uniting the field to contribute to the high-quality development of healthcare in Shaanxi.

At the concurrent Second Western China CHD Academic Conference, leading national CHD experts delivered cutting-edge presentations. Renowned specialists—including Prof. Wang, Qiang from Beijing Anzhen Hospital of Capital Medical University, Prof. Chen, Huiwen from Shanghai Children’s Medical Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Prof. Ma, Li from Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center—presented lectures on the comprehensive, integrated management of CHD prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Their presentations combined academic depth with strong clinical applicability and received wide acclaim from participants.

During the conference, two special events were also held: the “Cardiovascular Nursing Research Innovation Competition” and the “CHD Science Popularization Poster Competition.” The organizing committee conducted preliminary evaluations prior to the meeting, and shortlisted works were presented onsite. Expert judges provided real-time commentary and awarded recognitions to outstanding contributors. These activities effectively stimulated innovation among cardiovascular nursing professionals, enhanced the depth and quality of specialty nursing, and supported the development of cardiovascular nursing toward greater professionalism, scientific rigor, and refinement.

Rich in content and diverse in format, the conference not only established a solid foundation for the development of the newly formed Committee but also strengthened the diagnostic and service capabilities of CHD-related medical professionals in Shaanxi through high-level academic exchange and featured activities. Moving forward, the newly established Committee will continue to play a leading role and build a strong foundation for protecting the heart health of the people of Shaanxi.
