The Second Annual Academic Conference of the Obesity and Metabolic Diseases Committee of SIMEPA Successfully Held

On March 14, 2026, the Second Annual Academic Conference of the Obesity and Metabolic Diseases Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SIMEPA) was successfully held. The conference was organized by SIMEPA and hosted by the Department of Endocrinology of Xi'an International Medical Center Hospital. Renowned experts, scholars, and clinical specialists in the fields of obesity and metabolic diseases from China and abroad gathered in Xi'an to discuss the latest advances in obesity and related metabolic disorders, clinical management strategies, and multidisciplinary collaborative approaches, with the aim of promoting academic exchange and advancing the discipline. The conference was chaired by Professor Ji Qiuhe, Chair of the Obesity and Metabolic Diseases Committee of SIMEPA and President of the Hospital of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases at Xi'an International Medical Center Hospital.

The conference featured a series of thematic presentations covering a wide range of topics, including the pathogenesis of obesity, precision treatment, recent advances in pharmacological therapies, interpretations of multidisciplinary consensus guidelines, and the management of obesity-related complications. Professor Aleksey Gusev, Deputy Director of the Institute of Pediatric Surgery at the National Medical Research Center for Children's Health of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and Chair of the Department at RUDN University (Peoples' Friendship University of Russia), was invited to deliver a keynote presentation.

In his closing remarks, Professor Ji noted that the conference had established a high-level platform for academic exchange between China and Russia. By introducing advanced international concepts and clinical experience, the meeting further promoted technological advancement and collaborative development in the field of obesity and metabolic diseases in Shaanxi Province, while enhancing the academic influence of Xi'an International Medical Center Hospital in endocrinology and metabolism. He emphasized that the Committee will continue to promote academic innovation and the translation of research into clinical practice, advance standardized and precision-based diagnosis and treatment of obesity and metabolic diseases, and contribute to the high-quality development of regional healthcare services.
