Russian Medical Expert Invited to Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital for Academic Exchange

On March 13, 2026, at the invitation of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SIMEPA), Professor Aleksey Gusev, Deputy Director of the Institute of Pediatric Surgery at the National Medical Research Center for Children's Health of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and Chair of the Department at RUDN University (Peoples' Friendship University of Russia), visited Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital for an academic exchange.

The event was attended by Professor Jiao Fuyong, Honorary President of SIMEPA and senior expert at the Children's Hospital of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, as well as pediatric specialists, resident physicians undergoing standardized training, and other medical staff. Wen Hongxia, Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Education, chaired the meeting.

During the meeting, Professor Gusev delivered a lecture entitled "Metabolic Risk Assessment in Pediatric Surgery: Metabolic Syndrome, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and Obesity." He systematically introduced Russia's latest concepts and clinical experience in the perioperative management of pediatric metabolic disorders. Focusing on multidisciplinary collaboration and early screening strategies for pediatric metabolic diseases, Professor Gusev shared Russia's practical experience and engaged in in-depth discussions with the medical staff of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital. His presentation combined academic insight with practical clinical applications and generated considerable interest among the attendees.

Following the lecture, Professor Gusev, accompanied by Professor Jiao Fuyong, toured the Children's Hospital at the main campus of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, where he held further discussions and exchanges with pediatric physicians and nursing staff.
