Inaugural Meeting of the SIMEPA Medical–Exercise Integration Committee and the First Symposium on Medical–Exercise Integration in Endocrinology Successfully Held

On May 31, 2026, the Inaugural Meeting of the Medical–Exercise Integration Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SIMEPA) and the First Symposium on Medical–Exercise Integration in Endocrinology were successfully held in Xi'an. The event was organized by SIMEPA and hosted by Xi'an No. 9 Hospital.

During the inaugural meeting, the Committee completed its leadership election through a democratic voting process. Professor Niu Yu, Director of the Department of Endocrinology at Xi'an No. 9 Hospital, was elected as the Founding Chair of the Committee. Professors Zhang Jing, Feng Jia, Liu Ping, Tian Zhufang, Qiang Wei, Lü Shuangyan, Wei Jing, Zhang Chunhong, and Liu Lingjiao were elected as Vice Chairs, forming the Committee's inaugural leadership team.

The academic symposium brought together experts in endocrinology and health management from Beijing, Shanghai, and Shaanxi Province. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on a range of important clinical and research topics, including obesity management, exercise prescription, and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The presentations combined scientific advances with practical clinical applications, providing valuable theoretical guidance and practical models for the diagnosis, treatment, and lifelong management of metabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes. The symposium also promoted the continued development of obesity and metabolic disease prevention and management toward more standardized, precision-based, and personalized care.

The establishment of the Medical–Exercise Integration Committee of SIMEPA and the successful convening of the symposium represent an important step in advancing the prevention and management of endocrine and metabolic diseases in Shaanxi Province. Moving forward, the Committee will focus on standardizing clinical practice, improving regional healthcare capacity, strengthening professional education and training, promoting public awareness of disease prevention, and fostering academic collaboration and capacity building. Through these efforts, it aims to further advance the discipline and contribute to the implementation of the Healthy China Initiative.
