Inaugural Meeting of the SIMEPA Rare Neurological Diseases Committee and Academic Symposium on Rare Neurological Diseases Successfully Held

 

On June 14, 2026, the Inaugural Meeting of the Rare Neurological Diseases Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SIMEPA) and the Academic Symposium on Rare Neurological Diseases were successfully held at the Lecture Hall of the Education and Research Building of The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University. The event was organized by SIMEPA and hosted by The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University.

During the inaugural meeting, the Committee completed its leadership election through a democratic vote of all attending representatives. Professor Han Jianfeng, Vice President of The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, was elected as the Chair of the Committee. Professors Jia Rui, Chang Ting, Bu Ning, Du Fang, Guo Long, Kang Bei, Lin Xuemei, Liu Zhiqin, Yan Bingcang, and Mou Chunying were elected as Vice Chairs, forming the inaugural leadership team.

The academic symposium featured presentations by experts actively engaged in the field of rare neurological diseases. Drawing on their own research and clinical experience, the speakers shared the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment while introducing diverse research approaches and perspectives in rare disease investigation. Participants also exchanged insights from their clinical practice and engaged in in-depth discussions on both common challenges encountered in primary healthcare settings and complex individualized cases, fostering meaningful academic dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The establishment of the Rare Neurological Diseases Committee of SIMEPA, together with the successful convening of the academic symposium, marks a significant milestone in the development of rare neurological disease care in Shaanxi Province. It represents a new stage characterized by greater specialization, standardization, multidisciplinary collaboration, and international engagement. Looking ahead, the Committee will continue to strengthen multidisciplinary cooperation across the province, actively collaborate with leading national and international academic institutions, promote technological innovation and professional talent development, improve the diagnosis and management of rare neurological diseases, and establish an integrated, patient-centered continuum of care. Through these efforts, the Committee aims to support the advancement of neurological medicine in the region and contribute to the high-quality development of rare disease diagnosis and treatment in northwest China and across the country.
