Inaugural Meeting of the SIMEPA Smart Healthcare Committee and 2026 Academic Conference Successfully Held

On July 4, 2026, the Inaugural Meeting of the Smart Healthcare Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SIMEPA) and its 2026 Academic Conference were successfully held in Xi'an. The event was organized by SIMEPA and hosted by The Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University. Nearly 300 experts, scholars, hospital administrators, and industry representatives in the field of smart healthcare attended the conference in person, while nearly 20,000 participants joined online.

During the inaugural meeting, the Committee completed its leadership election through a democratic voting process. Professor Wang Huqing, Executive Deputy Director of the Medical Affairs Department at The Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, was elected as the Chair of the Committee. Professors An Yanxin, Hu Tingting, Hao Yiping, Li Ming, Qu Yong, Ren Bin, Su Xiaodong, and Wang Daojun were elected as Vice Chairs, forming the inaugural leadership team.

Following the inauguration ceremony, the 2026 Academic Conference was held. Closely aligned with national healthcare policies and emerging industry trends, the conference featured three major thematic sessions covering strategic planning for healthcare digitalization and its integration with clinical practice, artificial intelligence-driven innovation in healthcare, and digital technologies for performance management. Experts from healthcare institutions at different levels shared their practical experience and perspectives on the implementation of smart healthcare initiatives.

The conference also featured in-depth discussions on key issues, including how to integrate smart healthcare technologies with core clinical systems and medical practice, and how to improve data quality within smart healthcare information systems. These discussions highlighted practical strategies for advancing digital transformation while ensuring high-quality, standardized healthcare delivery.

The establishment of the Smart Healthcare Committee of SIMEPA represents an important step in implementing China's national strategy for healthcare digital transformation. The Committee provides a comprehensive platform for academic exchange, standards development, professional training, and the translation of innovative technologies into clinical practice for Shaanxi Province and the broader northwest region of China. Looking ahead, it will continue to promote innovation in smart healthcare, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and contribute to the digital and intelligent transformation of healthcare services, supporting the implementation of both the Healthy Shaanxi and Healthy China initiatives.
