2026 Shaanxi Conference on High-Quality Development of General Practice Successfully Held

On July 18, 2026, the 2026 Shaanxi Conference on High-Quality Development of General Practice was successfully held. The conference was organized by the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SIMEPA) and hosted by The Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University and the General Practice Committee of SIMEPA.

Leading experts in general practice from across China, frontline primary care professionals, and key representatives from standardized residency training bases gathered to discuss major topics, including a review of the progress made by the specialty alliance, pathways for the high-quality development of general practice, and strategies for promoting consistent standards and capabilities in primary healthcare services. The conference helped build consensus across the province and supported the continued development of general practice services in Shaanxi toward greater standardization, consistency, and quality.

Distinguished experts in general practice were invited to deliver presentations combining the latest academic developments with practical clinical guidance. The conference also featured a dedicated session on weight management, led by the team of Professor Li Ping, Chair of the General Practice Committee of SIMEPA and Director of the Department of General Practice at The Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University. Through thematic presentations and practical demonstrations, the session translated current academic advances into clinical skills that can be directly applied in primary care settings.

The successful conference provided clear direction for the next stage of standardized and consistent development of primary general practice services across Shaanxi Province. Looking ahead, the Committee will continue to focus on improving the quality of primary healthcare, promoting the wider distribution of high-quality general practice resources throughout the province, and providing residents of Shaanxi with more equitable, high-quality, and comprehensive general healthcare services across the continuum of care.
