From March 31 to April 1, 2023, the 2023 Chang’an Digestive Disease Forum and the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Digestive Professional Committee of the SXIMEA, hosted by the SXIMEA and organized by the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital, were successfully held. Over 200 representatives attended the conference in person, creating a warm atmosphere. The conference was presided over by Director Guisheng Liu of the Gastroenterology Department, and speeches were delivered by President Zhangjun Song, Vice President Jianhua Wang of the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital, and President Zhao Chen of the SXIMEA. The conference also invited Professor Enqiang Linghu, Chairman of the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and Professor Shuixiang He, Chairman of the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Society of SXIMEA, to give speeches.

The conference invited a total of 80 domestic and international experts, including those from the province, who are well-reputed in the fields of gastrointestinal endoscopy, digestive intervention, liver disease, and surgery. Three sub-forums were set up on early gastrointestinal cancer, portal hypertension, and comprehensive gastrointestinal variceal sclerosis treatment. A total of 25 academic lectures were given, along with 4 typical case shares, and more than 10 demonstrations of minimally invasive surgery under endoscopy. The content covered the latest important breakthroughs and advances both at home and abroad, including the fusion of ERCP and EUS, ESD related technology, diagnosis and treatment of early gastrointestinal cancer, minimally invasive treatment of internal hemorrhoids, new perspectives on immunological liver diseases, and forward-looking medical research. The conference blended disciplines of endoscopy, intervention, surgery, liver disease, etc., and was both innovative and rigorously practical. It allowed attendees to broaden their horizons and get in touch with the cutting-edge technology and disciplines. It also guided standardized diagnosis and treatment operations, providing vivid operation demonstrations and detailed operation procedures for participants to observe and learn.

The successful hosting of this conference has further enhanced the academic influence of our hospital’s Department of Gastroenterology. The department will continue to improve its discipline construction level following this excellent beginning. It also aims to conduct more academic exchanges with experts within and outside the province, promoting a continuous improvement in the diagnosis and treatment level of digestive diseases in our province.
