To enhance the professional skills of hemodialysis personnel in Shaanxi Province, foster communication and exchange, and strengthen the popularization of scientific knowledge and health education for dialysis patients, the establishment conference of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association's Hemodialysis Professional Committee and the Progress in Kidney Disease Diagnosis and Treatment - 11th Peritoneal Dialysis Advances Workshop was successfully held in Xi'an on October 28-29, 2023. This event was organized by the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and hosted by the Kidney Disease Hemodialysis Center of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital.

The conference was attended by Chen, Zhao, President of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association; Zhang, Yulian, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital; Lu, Chen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, President, and Dean of the First Clinical Medical College and Director of the Kidney Disease Center at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University; Jiang, Hongli, Deputy Dean of the Kidney Disease Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University and Director of the Kidney Disease Branch of the Shaanxi Medical Association; Jiang Hong, Head of the Nephrology Department at the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region; Mei, Feng, Director of the Department of Nephrology at Qinghai University Affiliated Hospital; Chen, Xiaohong, Honorary Deputy Director of the Kidney Disease Branch of the China Association of Chinese Medicine, Vice President of the Chinese Ethnic Medicine Society's Kidney Disease Branch, and Director of the Kidney Disease Branch of the Shaanxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Association; Li, Zhenjiang, Director of the Kidney Disease Hemodialysis Center of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital; and renowned experts from Xijing Hospital, the First and Second Affiliated Hospitals of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, Shaanxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital of Northwest University, Shaanxi Nuclear Industry 215 Hospital, and others participating offline. The conference was chaired by Wang, Ning, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Shaanxi Association.

Secretary-General Wang, Ning first introduced the overview of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, expressing the association's commitment to uphold its fine traditions, implement the health work policies of the new era, focus on building a healthy Shaanxi, follow the development laws of social organizations, and contribute to the construction of a healthy Shaanxi. Hou, Xi, Director of the Academic Department of the Shaanxi Association, read the approval document for the establishment of the Hemodialysis Professional Committee. Director Li, Zhenjiang, the proposed Director of the Hemodialysis Professional Committee, introduced the preparation process for the committee.

During the election segment of the conference, Secretary-General Wang, Ning announced the election methods, procedures, and the appointees for overseeing the election, ballot counting, and vote tallying. Through an offline voting system, the first Hemodialysis Professional Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association was elected, consisting of one Director, fifteen Deputy Directors, fifty-five Executive Members, one Secretary-General, and one Deputy Secretary-General.

Director Li, Zhenjiang, the Head of the Nephrology and Hemodialysis Center at Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, was elected as the Director of the Hemodialysis Professional Committee of the Shaanxi Association.

In his statement, Director Li, Zhenjiang expressed his honor and the significance of his responsibility as the first Director of the Hemodialysis Professional Committee of the Shaanxi Association. He pledged to fulfill his duties with the utmost effort and responsibility, aiming to actively establish an academic exchange platform under the supervision and guidance of the provincial association, enhance the promotion of kidney disease diagnosis and treatment knowledge, and advance technology with the collective effort of all members, to foster the development and growth of the Hemodialysis Committee.

Zhang, Yulian, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, in her speech, acknowledged and affirmed the establishment of the committee. She highlighted the close cooperation and active communication among the committee's organizing staff with academic leaders from hospitals across the province. She expressed hope that the establishment of the committee would create a robust academic exchange platform, working alongside peers from various medical institutions to continually improve the province's level of kidney disease diagnosis and treatment and academic standards.

Chen, Zhao, President of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, expressed four hopes for the newly established Hemodialysis Professional Committee:

1. He hoped the committee would fully leverage its platform to unite kidney disease diagnosis and treatment professionals within the province for in-depth academic exchanges, professional training, and public education, with a particular emphasis on strengthening training at the grassroots level.

2. He urged the committee to enhance international medical exchanges, especially by introducing new theories and technologies in kidney disease diagnosis and treatment from around the world to broaden perspectives.

3. He encouraged active participation in social activities organized by the association, including health education campaigns and voluntary medical services at the grassroots level, to raise public awareness and understanding of kidney diseases.

4. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the committee's team, adhering strictly to the regulations set by the Provincial Health Commission and the Provincial Civil Affairs Department, and conducting all activities legally and in compliance with the association's charter and the committee's management methods.

Chen Zhao expressed confidence that under the leadership of Director Li Zhenjiang, with the collective efforts of the deputy directors, executive members, and members, the committee would make significant contributions to the development of kidney disease diagnosis and treatment in the province.

Following the establishment conference, a two-day workshop on kidney disease diagnosis and treatment progress and the 11th Advances in Peritoneal Dialysis was held. The workshop, chaired by Du Peng, Deputy Director of the Hemodialysis Professional Committee of the Shaanxi Association, featured prominent experts from Shanghai, Xinjiang, Gansu, Qinghai, and Shaanxi. Topics covered included the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic kidney diseases and their complications, peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, vascular access, nutritional management and nursing in kidney disease, and the role of ultrasound imaging and pathology techniques in kidney disease diagnosis and treatment. The event, attended by over 360 participants, was praised for promoting new theories and technologies, guiding clinical practice, enhancing the professional capabilities of medical staff in nephrology, addressing technical challenges in clinical work, and presenting a splendid academic feast.
