Promoting high-quality integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) into the construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative, making TCM an important carrier for the connectivity of peoples, the mutual learning of civilizations, and the construction of a global community of health for mankind. TCM is encouraged to play a multifaceted role in health and wellness, economy, science and technology, and culture, among others.
As a national export base for TCM services, the Xi'an TCM Hospital of Encephalopathy, a Vice-Chairman Unit of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SXIMEA), actively carries out international exchanges and cooperation in TCM. It promotes the high-quality development of TCM service trade, contributing to the enhancement of TCM's international recognition and influence.
From June 8th to 13th, the delegation led by Song, Hujie, Vice Chairman of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SXIMEA) and President of Xi'an TCM Hospital of Encephalopathy; Jiao, Fuyong, Vice Chairman of SXIMEA and Honorary President of the Children's Hospital of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital; and Wang, Hui, Director of the International Department at Xi'an TCM Hospital of Encephalopathy, visited Russia for an exchange. They promoted the unique advantages of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and preventive healthcare to local authorities and medical institutions. Discussions and cooperation on the construction of an international medical consortium and the conduct of international training were also undertaken.
Building the Bridge of Friendship between Chinese and Russian Peoples, Composing a New Chapter of China-Russia Win-Win Cooperation
The delegation visited several key medical institutions in Russia, including the "National Medical Research Center for Children's Health" of the Russian Federation Ministry of Health, the "China Medical" Healthcare Center in Russia, the "Gratitude" Healthcare Center in Penza City, the "New Human" Global Health and Longevity Practice Center, and the "Salus-Pro" Rehabilitation Medical Center in Russia. They introduced the unique charm and advantages of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in prevention, treatment, healthcare, wellness, and rehabilitation to the relevant Russian departments and institutions. The delegation also gained insights into the current state of TCM development in Russia, information on needs, and intentions for cooperation on building international medical consortia and international training. The exchange visit was a complete success.
The first stop was the "National Medical Research Center for Children's Health" under the Russian Federation Ministry of Health.
On the morning of June 9th at 10 a.m., the delegation visited this center, accompanied by the pediatric surgery expert, Alexey Gusev. They toured the center's surgical and rehabilitation facilities and held discussions with Olga Kamalova, the Deputy Director and Head of the International Academic Contact Department. Olga Kamalova shared insights into the center's specialized treatments and operational status.
During the exchange, the delegation from Xi'an TCM Hospital of Encephalopathy presented the hospital's development, highlighting progress in international diagnosis and treatment, international training, and the trade of TCM services. They expressed a desire to enhance understanding and foster international cooperation with the "National Medical Research Center for Children's Health" of the Russian Federation Ministry of Health. The delegation invited experts from the center to join the "Belt and Road International Medical Cooperation Alliance" and to visit Xi'an TCM Hospital of Encephalopathy for further exchanges when convenient.
The second stop was the "China Medical" Healthcare Center in Russia.
On the morning of June 11th, accompanied by Ren, Zebin, President of the Russian Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the delegation visited the "China Medical" Healthcare Center in Russia. There, they conducted consultations on two challenging local cases, providing professional Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis and rehabilitation plans.
After the consultations, the delegation presented the "China Medical" Healthcare Center with Traditional Chinese Medicine charts and invited the center's experts to join the "Belt and Road International Medical Cooperation Alliance."
The two sides exchanged views on academic exchanges in Traditional Chinese Medicine, international training in TCM, and patient referrals. They also reached an intention to cooperate on jointly establishing an international medical consortium.
The third stop was the "Gratitude" Healthcare Center in Penza City.
On June 12th, responding to an invitation from Victoria Khachaturyan, the head of the "Gratitude" Healthcare Center in Penza City, the delegation visited both the "Gratitude" Healthcare Center and the "New Human" Global Health and Longevity Practice Center.
The delegation toured the center's environment and facilities and conducted a consultation for a challenging case at the center, performing acupuncture treatment on site. Subsequently, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on joint ventures in rehabilitation institution building, providing rehabilitation technology guidance, support for challenging cases, remote consultations, developing international talent joint training programs, and cooperation in purchasing Chinese medicine and rehabilitation equipment and aids. A consensus on cooperation was reached.
The fourth stop was the "Salus-Pro" Rehabilitation Medical Center in Russia.
On the morning of June 13th, the delegation visited the "Salus-Pro" Rehabilitation Medical Center in Russia upon invitation. Both parties exchanged views on academic exchanges in Traditional Chinese Medicine, international training in TCM and rehabilitation techniques, and patient referrals.
This visit by the Xi'an TCM Hospital of Encephalopathy is a significant step in response to the "Belt and Road" initiative, furthering the development of a "Health Silk Road" pilot zone.
Looking forward, Xi'an TCM Hospital of Encephalopathy will further implement the agreements and consultation outcomes reached during this visit. It will advance deep cooperation with relevant Russian institutions in areas such as Traditional Chinese Medicine academic exchanges, international training, and international diagnosis and treatment. The aim is to build a service and cultural brand for Traditional Chinese Medicine, contributing to its global advancement and enhancing the health and well-being of peoples worldwide.
