Zhao Yisu's Delegation Concludes Successful Visit to Shaanxi for Academic Exchange

From December 3 to 25, 2024, Dr. Zhao Yisu—an academician of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, Academia Sinica, and tenured professor at both the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins University—visited Xi’an Red Cross Hospital. At the invitation of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, Dr. Zhao participated in a series of academic exchange events across Shaanxi Province.

• December      6: Dr. Zhao visited Yan’an University      for the Zhao Yisu Scholarship Award Ceremony, where he delivered a      keynote speech titled “Belt and Road Medical Network and Rural      Medicine.”

• December      9: At Shaanxi Provincial People's      Hospital, Dr. Zhao delivered a special lecture titled “Rules and      Disciplines for Success in the Medical Field,” tailored for new      medical staff.

• December      13–14: Dr. Zhao was invited to the 15th      Xi’an Jiaotong University Annual Academic Conference on      Medical-Engineering Collaborative Innovation, hosted by Xi’an Jiaotong      University and its First Affiliated Hospital. He presented on “The      Importance and Value of Biomedical Simulation in Med-Eng Collaboration.”

• December      17: At the School of Medicine of      Northwest University, Dr. Zhao was featured in the Yang Zhongjian      Academic Lecture Series, where he gave a talk titled “Orthopaedic      Biomechanics—Past, Present, and Future.”

• December      19: Dr. Zhao participated in the Belt      and Road Technology Innovation Cooperation Express – Shaanxi Session and      Xi’an Chanba International Port Tech Transfer and Talent Exchange      Conference, co-organized by the Shaanxi Provincial Department of      Science and Technology and the Foreign Affairs Office. His speech focused      on “The Significance and Value of Medical-Engineering Integration under      the Belt and Road Initiative.”

Throughout his visit, as a visiting professor at Xi’an Red Cross Hospital, Dr. Zhao delivered 14 academic lectures and engaged in research exchanges and discussion sessions across multiple specialties, including spine, joints, trauma, rehabilitation, bone disease, and sports medicine.

Dr. Zhao’s visit greatly enriched academic dialogue and collaboration between local institutions and international experts, marking a fruitful step forward in Shaanxi’s medical and scientific exchanges.
