Medical Experts from Belarus Conduct Academic Exchange at Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital

From June 3 to June 9, 2025, at the invitation of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, Prof. Larissa Gorbach, Chief Researcher of the Mother and Child National Research and Practical Center under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus and an expert in pediatric infectious diseases, visited Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital for an academic exchange.

On June 4, the “China–Belarus Pediatric Infectious Diseases Academic Exchange Conference” was held in the Fifth Administrative Conference Room of the hospital’s main campus. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Jiao, Fuyong, Honorary President of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and Honorary President of the Children’s Hospital of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital. More than 70 participants attended, including Ma, Dongrui, Director of the Teaching Department, and relevant medical staff from the hospital.

On behalf of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and the hospital’s National Demonstration Base for Attracting Global Talent and Intelligence, Prof. Jiao, Fuyong, presented a letter of appointment to Prof. Larissa Gorbach. Prof. Gorbach delivered a report titled Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Tuberculosis Incidence in Children and Adolescents, providing an in-depth clinical data analysis of the pandemic’s impact on global TB incidence among children and adolescents, and sharing Belarus’s experience in pediatric infectious disease surveillance and intervention. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions with Prof. Gorbach on topics such as cross-border medical data sharing and strategies for controlling drug-resistant tuberculosis.

Afterwards, accompanied by Prof. Jiao, Fuyong, and Director Gao, Ying of Pediatrics, Prof. Gorbach visited the Children’s Hospital at the hospital’s main campus and the Pediatrics Department at the Xixian campus, holding further discussions with pediatric medical staff.

This marked Prof. Larissa Gorbach’s first academic visit to China. China and Belarus maintain an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership. Under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of both countries, China–Belarus relations have operated at a high level, with pragmatic cooperation steadily advancing and effective collaboration within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS. Prof. Gorbach’s visit serves as a vivid example of medical cooperation between the two nations. Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital will adhere to the consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen engagement with Belarusian medical experts, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, carry out joint research, work together to develop new quality productive forces, and promote the common development and prosperity of the medical sectors of both countries.
