Danish Medical Experts Carried Out Academic Exchange Activities in Shaanxi

From July 21 to August 2, 2025, at the invitation of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, two renowned cardiovascular experts from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark—Professor Børge Nordestgaard, President of the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS), and Professor Anne Tybjærg-Hansen, Chair of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Working Group on Preventive Cardiology—visited Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital and the School of Medicine of Northwest University to carry out international academic exchange activities.

On July 22, the “China-Denmark Academic Exchange Conference on Innovative Treatment of Cardiometabolic Diseases” was successfully held at Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital. Professor Børge Nordestgaard gave a lecture entitled “Residual Cholesterol and Triglycerides in Cardiometabolic Diseases”, and Professor Anne Tybjærg-Hansen delivered a lecture entitled “The Role of Lipoprotein(a) in Cardiovascular Diseases”. The reports integrated basic theory with clinical cases, using detailed data analysis to elaborate on the mechanisms of cardiovascular disease development, global incidence differences, and prospectively explored potential future treatment strategies. Participants discussed with the experts on hot issues such as the selection of drug treatment regimens for cardiovascular diseases and the management of drug side effects.

The two Danish experts also visited the Department of Cardiology at the Xixian Campus of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital, the Cardiovascular Hospital at the main campus, as well as the Shaanxi Provincial University Engineering Research Center for Panvascular Diseases, the Department of Pathology, and the High-Precision Instrument Laboratory of Northwest University, where they engaged in discussions and exchanges on clinical practice, discipline development, and scientific research.

This conference reflects the pragmatic cooperation between China and Denmark in the field of healthcare. We look forward to taking this as an opportunity to fully leverage the bridge role of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, actively build international medical cooperation platforms, and assist Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital and Northwest University School of Medicine in deepening joint research in the field of cardiometabolic diseases, jointly promoting the development of cardiology, and contributing to the progress and prosperity of medical science.
