2025 Chang’an Conference on Digestive Diseases and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Successfully Held in Xi’an

On September 13, 2025, the “2025 Chang’an Conference on Digestive Diseases and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the Annual Meeting of the Digestive Medicine Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association” was successfully held in Xi’an. The event was hosted by the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and organized by the First Department of Gastroenterology of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital. More than 600 gastroenterology experts from within and outside the province gathered to discuss the development of the discipline.

During the conference, the Digestive Medicine Committee of the Association held its leadership transition meeting. Prof. Zhu, Yunqing, the outgoing Chair, presented achievements in building academic platforms and supporting primary healthcare. Through democratic election, Liu, Guisheng, Director of the First Department of Gastroenterology at Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital, was elected as the new Chair, with Zhu, Yunqing appointed Honorary Chair. Four experts, including He, Shuixiang, were appointed as Advisors; eleven experts, including Guo, Guanya, were elected Vice Chairs; Guo, Xueyan was appointed Secretary-General, and Zong, Wei and Jin, Yan were appointed Deputy Secretaries-General.

The newly elected Chair, Liu, Guisheng, stated that the committee will optimize academic platforms, strengthen talent development, and promote technical advancement to support the improvement of digestive disease diagnosis and treatment across the province. Chen, Zhao, President of the Association, affirmed the accomplishments of the previous committee and offered suggestions for future development. Wang, Jianhua, Vice President of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital, delivered a speech encouraging the committee to enhance disciplinary development and regional collaboration.

At the special session on early gastrointestinal cancer, numerous experts—including Prof. Zhou, Pinghong, Vice Chair of the Digestive Endoscopy Committee of the Chinese Medical Association and recognized as a “National Master Craftsman”—delivered lectures on cutting-edge topics such as endoscopic tunnel techniques, endoscopic diagnosis of pyloric gland adenoma and adenocarcinoma, and advances in the diagnosis and treatment of early cardia cancer. Several experts also shared clinical experience on special cases, such as early esophageal cancer masquerading as a submucosal lesion.

The conference presented both theoretical depth and clinical practicality, with diverse formats that received unanimous praise from participants. As a high-quality academic exchange platform, the event effectively promoted knowledge sharing in the field of gastroenterology, significantly contributing to the advancement of digestive disease and endoscopic diagnosis and treatment in Shaanxi Province and supporting the development of “Healthy Shaanxi.”
