From September 19 to 21, 2025, the 10th “Lundao · Chang’an” Breast Disease Academic Conference was grandly held in Xi’an. The event was jointly organized by the Shaanxi Health Association, the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, and the Xi’an Cancer Rehabilitation Association, and hosted by the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University. More than 300 breast disease experts from across the country—including Academician Xu, Binghe of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Prof. Jiang, Zefei of the PLA General Hospital—gathered in the ancient city under the theme of “Communication · Innovation · Collaboration · Win-Win” to explore new pathways in breast disease diagnosis and treatment.
Main Forum: High-Level Dialogue Focused on Clinical Frontiers
On the morning of September 20, the opening ceremony of the main forum was chaired by Prof. Ren, Yu of the Department of Breast Surgery and Prof. Yang, Jin of the Cancer Center at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University. In the “Experts’ Dialogue” session, Prof. Jiang, Zefei delivered a presentation titled “Reflections on Several Issues in the Treatment of Early Breast Cancer,” emphasizing that the management of early breast cancer requires “precise stratification and individualized decision-making” to balance treatment efficacy and quality of life. Academician Xu, Binghe, in his report “Sixty Years of Clinical Research in Chinese Anti-Tumor Drugs,” reviewed China’s evolution from “following” to “running alongside,” calling for innovations in precision therapy and multidisciplinary collaboration to propel the “Chinese Model” onto the global stage.
In the “Art at the Fingertips” session, Prof. Hu, Xueqing of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University shared “Three-Step Dynamic Breast Reconstruction,” showcasing breakthroughs in both functional and aesthetic aspects of breast reconstruction. Prof. Ren, Yu focused on “Cell-Level Fluorescence-Guided Techniques,” exploring precision pathways for endoscopic breast-conserving surgery. In addition, Prof. Yang, Jin, Prof. Wei, Bing, and others presented cutting-edge progress from perspectives including ADC drug research and advances in pathology. Experts engaged in in-depth discussions on key clinical topics, creating a vibrant exchange of ideas.
At the conclusion of the main forum, Prof. Ren, Yu remarked: “The academic seed planted ten years ago has now grown to shelter patients and nourish the discipline. Moving forward, we must continue to work together to advance the development of breast disease diagnosis and treatment.”
Parallel Sessions Flourish, Covering the Entire Clinical Spectrum
With the theme “Comprehensive Coverage, In-Depth Focus,” the conference featured 13 parallel sessions, covering topics such as standardized diagnosis and treatment for young physicians, consensus lectures on young breast cancer, immunotherapy, and collaboration on brain metastases, with both online and offline participation. In the “Innovative Drug Development” session chaired by Prof. He, Jianjun, Academician Xu, Binghe delivered a report titled “China’s Original Research Transforming Clinical Practice in Breast Cancer,” highlighting breakthroughs in China’s innovative drug research. His insights on future research directions greatly boosted confidence across the field.
Each parallel session featured clear themes and diverse formats. Speakers and attendees actively interacted, contributing insights across basic research, clinical practice, therapeutic techniques, and nursing services, creating a multidimensional academic exchange platform.
A Decade of Dedicated Growth: Building a Brand and Safeguarding Health
As an academic brand cultivated over ten years, “Lundao · Chang’an” has grown from its early stages into a major national event that brings together more than 300 leading experts and covers the entire chain from basic research to clinical practice and rehabilitation. The conference has witnessed the popularization of endoscopic breast-conserving surgery, innovations in breast reconstruction, and the shift toward patient-centered care.
Prof. He, Jianjun remarked: “Lundao · Chang’an serves as a bridge linking scientific research with clinical practice, and linking physicians with patients. Its vitality lies in being rooted in clinical needs.” The conference concluded in a warm and dynamic atmosphere. The tenth anniversary is not an endpoint but a new beginning. Moving forward, the conference will continue its decade-long commitment—using academic strength and innovative thinking—to further write the chapter of “Life First, Medicine for the People” in safeguarding women’s health.
