SIMEPA Infection Prevention and Control Committee Founded; 2025 Annual Academic Conference Successfully Held

On October 18, 2025, the “Founding Conference and 2025 Annual Academic Meeting of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SIMEPA)” was successfully held in Xi’an. The event was hosted by SIMEPA and organized by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University. More than 300 experts attended in person, while over 3,000 participants joined online, witnessing the establishment of the new committee and the advancement of the discipline.

During the founding ceremony, democratic elections were held. Zhang, Chen, Deputy Director of the Medical Affairs Department and Director of the Infection Control Office at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, was elected Chair of the Committee. Liu, Ming, Vice President of the same hospital, was appointed Honorary Chair. Prof. Li, Baozhen, Prof. Li, Jinna, and Prof. Cheng, Liping were appointed Advisors. Nine experts—including Di, Youhua and Du, Ling—were elected Vice Chairs. Liu, Ting was appointed Secretary-General, and Li, Hanxue was appointed Deputy Secretary-General.

In his inaugural remarks, Chair Zhang, Chen stated that the Committee will strictly follow the Association’s charter, focus on disciplinary development and evidence-based infection control, strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration and regional coordination, enhance infection control capacity in primary healthcare institutions, and promote a comprehensive improvement in provincial infection prevention and control, contributing to the construction of a “Healthy Shaanxi.”

At the concurrent academic meeting, numerous experts—including Prof. Li, Baozhen, Executive Vice Chair of the Shaanxi Infection Control Quality Control Center—delivered insightful lectures. Topics included core clinical issues such as “How to Make Infection Control Supervision More Precise and Efficient” and “Key Points in Hospital Infection Prevention in Neonatal Wards,” combining theoretical depth with practical guidance.

During the conference, Chair Zhang, Chen presided over the symposium on the Shaanxi Provincial Group Standard “Standards for Infection Prevention and Control in Robot-Assisted Surgery,” fostering consensus on standardizing infection control procedures for related surgical practices. Vice Chair Wang, Li introduced the establishment of the editorial committee for Hospital Infection Management: Practice and Applications, supporting efforts to develop a platform for infection control knowledge dissemination.

The conference featured cutting-edge content and diverse formats, earning high praise from attending experts. As the first provincial professional organization to deeply integrate local infection control practice with international academic exchange, the establishment of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee lays an important organizational foundation for building a systematic and scientific infection control framework. It also marks a new stage in the development of infection prevention and control in Shaanxi Province. Looking forward, the Committee will continue to leverage its platform role and strengthen the infection control defense line to safeguard public health.
