2025 Annual Academic Conference of the SIMEPA Abdominal Surgery Committee and Shaanxi Retroperitoneal Tumor Specialty Alliance Meeting Successfully Held

From November 8 to 9, 2025, the “2025 Annual Academic Conference of the Abdominal Surgery Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association (SIMEPA) and the Shaanxi Retroperitoneal Tumor Specialty Alliance Meeting” was successfully held in Baoji, Shaanxi. The event was hosted by SIMEPA and jointly organized by the Abdominal Surgery Committee of SIMEPA, the Department of General Surgery of Xijing Hospital, and Baoji Central Hospital. Experts and scholars in abdominal surgery from within and outside the province gathered to engage in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics and major clinical challenges in the field.

During the conference, Chen, Zhao, President of SIMEPA, and Academician Dou, Kefeng from Xijing Hospital delivered video messages. They affirmed the remarkable achievements made by the Abdominal Surgery Committee through the collective efforts of all members, praising participating institutions for their vitality and progress in clinical technique advancement, platform development, talent training, and scientific innovation. They expressed hopes that the member institutions will continue to collaborate closely, share insights, explore new possibilities for disciplinary development, and drive innovation in abdominal surgery.

Prof. Yue, Shuqing, Chair of the Abdominal Surgery Committee of SIMEPA and Director of General Surgery at Xijing Hospital, presented the annual report of the Committee. He stated that under the guidance of SIMEPA and the support of member institutions, the Committee has made solid progress in academic exchange, resource integration, talent development, and standardization of diagnosis and treatment. Looking ahead to 2026, the Committee will focus on improving two-way referral standards and procedures, organizing specialized vascular surgery training programs and high-quality academic meetings, and enhancing talent development and clinical research capacity across member institutions through continuous mentorship and training—advancing the high-quality development of abdominal surgery in Shaanxi.

Academic Highlights: Sharing Frontier Achievements

During the academic lecture sessions, experts presented cutting-edge advancements and elaborated on key topics such as comprehensive treatment for colorectal cancer liver metastases and pancreatogenic portal hypertension, accelerating the dissemination of new knowledge and innovative techniques within the discipline.

A Youth Forum was held concurrently, providing a platform for young professionals to showcase their academic work and exchange ideas. The forum supported the development of talent pipelines and facilitated the synergy between academic inheritance and organizational growth.
