Inaugural Meeting and Academic Conference of the Minimally Invasive Spine Professional Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association Successfully Held

On December 6, 2025, the Inaugural Meeting and Academic Conference of the Minimally Invasive Spine Professional Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association was successfully held in Xi’an. The event was hosted by the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and organized by the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital. More than 150 experts and scholars in the field of minimally invasive spine surgery from over 30 medical institutions gathered to witness the establishment of the Professional Committee and to discuss the future development of minimally invasive spine disciplines.

At the inaugural meeting, following a democratic election, Duan, Dapeng, Vice Director of the Department of Orthopedics at Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital, was elected as Chair. Tian, Dasheng, Director of the Department of Orthopedics at the The Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, was elected as Advisor. Liu, Shizhang, Director of the Department of Orthopedics at Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital, was elected as Honorary Chair. Bai, Chuanyi, Du, Heng, Liao, Bo, and eight other experts were elected as Vice Chairs, and Wei, Wenbo was elected as Secretary-General.

In his address, the newly elected Chair Duan, Dapeng noted that minimization, precision, and intelligence have become core development trends in the surgical field. He emphasized that, under the strong leadership of the Association and through the collective efforts of all committee members, the Professional Committee will firmly focus on five core tasks—international exchange, technology promotion, academic leadership, talent cultivation, and scientific research innovation—and steadily advance the development of minimally invasive spine surgery in Shaanxi Province toward a more regulated, standardized, and internationally oriented direction.

During the academic conference, renowned experts from institutions including the The Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, the Gansu Provincial People’s Hospital, the Xi’an International Medical Center Hospital, the China North Industries General Hospital, the Tangdu Hospital, Air Force Medical University, and the Xijing Hospital, Air Force Medical University delivered excellent lectures on guideline interpretation, surgical techniques in spine surgery, typical case discussions, postoperative management, and rehabilitation. The conference received widespread positive feedback.

This event brought together well-known experts and scholars in the field of minimally invasive spine surgery from both within and outside the province. The academic presentations were rich and diverse, featuring both high-level discussions of cutting-edge concepts and experience sharing closely aligned with clinical practice. This academically rigorous and practically oriented conference will undoubtedly promote the steady advancement of minimally invasive spine surgery in Shaanxi Province toward greater standardization, regulation, and internationalization, delivering higher-quality and more professional medical services to the people of the Sanqin region.
