Training Program on Pharmacogenomic Testing and Precision Microbiological Diagnosis Successfully Held by the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association

On December 26, 2025, the Training Program on Pharmacogenomic Testing and Precision Microbiological Diagnosis, hosted by the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and jointly organized by the The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University and the Clinical Laboratory Professional Committee of the Association, was successfully held at the Yanliang East Campus of The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University.

Focusing on frontier technologies and practical applications in medical laboratory science, the training program brought together multiple experts from within and outside the province. Centered on the two core areas of pharmacogenomic testing and precision microbiological diagnosis, participants conducted in-depth exchanges on topics including the clinical translation of pharmacogenomic testing, optimization of laboratory test panels, collaboration between laboratory medicine and clinical practice, and the implementation of continuing education at the primary healthcare level. The program effectively integrated theoretical knowledge with clinical practice, offering grassroots laboratory professionals and clinicians a comprehensive and highly practical academic exchange experience.

During the hands-on practice sessions, instructors provided step-by-step guidance on carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) enzyme typing detection techniques and combined antimicrobial susceptibility testing for multidrug-resistant (MDR) organisms. From reagent preparation and operational procedures to result interpretation, participants were assisted in rapidly mastering the practical essentials of key techniques, effectively addressing the common challenge faced by grassroots laboratory personnel of “understanding the theory but finding hands-on operation difficult.”

The successful convening of this training program not only established a platform for grassroots healthcare workers to engage in learning and exchange with field experts, but also promoted the dissemination of frontier knowledge and standardized techniques in pharmacogenomics and precision microbiological diagnosis to the primary healthcare level. Participants widely noted that the program content closely aligned with grassroots clinical practice, combining updates in theoretical knowledge with improvements in practical skills, thereby laying a solid foundation for future laboratory work and supporting the advancement of precision clinical diagnosis and treatment.
