The Vice President Unit of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Canada.

On November 22nd, the Third International Academic Exchange Conference on the "Inheritance and Innovative Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine" opened at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine. Hosted by the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education and organized by Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine, the conference served as a sub-forum for the "2023 Silk Road Educational Cooperation and Exchange Conference" in Shaanxi Province.

 

During the opening ceremony, Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine held an online signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Canada. Yang, Jingfeng, Vice President of Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine, and Carol St. Laurent, Vice President of Kwantlen Polytechnic University, delivered speeches on behalf of their respective institutions and signed the MoU.

 

Yang, Jingfeng stated that Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine and Kwantlen Polytechnic University have a solid foundation and potential for cooperation in the construction of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) disciplines and talent training. In the future, both sides will work together, adhering to the principles of complementing each other's advantages, mutual benefit, and friendly cooperation. They plan to collaborate in medical education, talent cultivation, professional construction, faculty and student exchanges, and the promotion of TCM culture, aiming to make substantial contributions to promoting TCM education, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people bonds between China and Canada.

 

Ms. St. Laurent highlighted the significance of signing the MoU as an integral part of the Third International Academic Exchange Activities on the Inheritance and Innovative Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She expressed hope that through joint efforts, both institutions could embrace future opportunities under a shared vision of cooperation, innovation, and excellence in the field of TCM, contributing to the global dialogue on Traditional Chinese Medicine.


After three years of efforts, the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association facilitated the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Vice-Chairman Unit Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine and Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Canada. This agreement encompasses joint efforts in education and scientific research, academic publications and materials exchange, research, teaching, and seminar exchanges between teachers, student exchange programs, and the promotion and application of suitable Chinese medicine techniques such as acupuncture and massage. The three parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in the health sector, including traditional Chinese medicine, with innovation and heritage as the pillars. They adhere to the principles of complementary advantages, mutual benefit, and friendly cooperation to accelerate the partnership in areas such as the dissemination of Chinese medicine culture, training, professional development, academic exchanges, and visits, thereby gradually implementing a series of international projects in traditional Chinese medicine. Together, they aim to contribute to the advancement of human health.

 

From September 10 to 11, 2018, Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association hosted David Florkowski, Dean of the School of Health at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Doctor of Medicine, and Dr. Yang, Guangfang, Head of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, for exchanges in Shaanxi. They visited Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine for a friendly visit.

 

On October 10, 2022, Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Kwantlen Polytechnic University formally signed a three-year strategic cooperation agreement on traditional Chinese medicine.

 

On April 11, 2023, a delegation of traditional Chinese medicine from Canada, led by Professor Yang, Guangfang, visited Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine at the invitation of SXIMEA. Professor Yang was appointed as a visiting professor in the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the First Clinical Medical College of Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine.

 

On June 14, 2023, Wang, Ning, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, along with a delegation, visited the School of Health at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Canada. This visit laid a solid foundation for deepening cooperation in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, opening a new chapter in collaboration in the fields of traditional Chinese medicine and health. Both parties expressed their intention to accelerate the cooperation schedule between Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine. They also aim to promote deep cooperation in rehabilitation, nursing, traditional Chinese medicine academic exchanges, international training, international diagnosis and treatment, and research projects, thereby establishing a brand for traditional Chinese medicine services and culture.
