Experts from Turkmenistan and India visit FAH for academic exchanges

To further promote international medical cooperation, talent training, scientific research and other international exchanges between the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and international institutions, Professor Begench H.Annayev, Director of National Medical Center for Cardiovascular Diseases in Turkmenistan and his assistant Natalya Nagornova, Senthil Arun Kumar, Associate Professor from School of Medicine of University of Mumbai in India paid a visit to the FAH for academic exchanges on May 25, 2023, accompanied by Director Chen Zhao, Deputy Director Jiao Fuyong, and Secretary-General Wang Ning of Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association as well as representatives from International Department. Lyu Yi, Vice President of XJTU and President of the FAH, He Changzhong, Deputy Director of XJTU Health Science Center, She Junjun, Assistant-to-President of the FAH, Mou Jianjun, Vice President of Cardiovascular Disease Hospital, Zhang Zhe, Deputy Director of Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and heads of Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, International Exchange Office, medical, teaching and research administration departments attended the academic activities.

Vice President Lyu Yi introduced the talent training, scientific research and clinical treatment of XJTU and the FAH. He highlighted that the success of China-Central Asia Summit has pinpointed the future direction for international exchange and cooperation. The FAH will be devoted to establishing an open platform for medical cooperation, hoping that bilateral sides will establish collaboration and mutual learning in medicine, teaching, research and administration, continually provide medical services to more countries and make due contributions to human life and health.

Chen Zhao illustrated that the launching of China-Central Asia Summit is of significance to regional development and creates new opportunities for promoting global health. Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association will continually give full play to its advantages and characteristics to provide a broader international medical exchange platform for the development of China's medicine and the promotion of traditional Chinese medicine culture, and work together to drive the advancement of human health.

Mou Jianjun and Professor Zhe Jianqing from Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, and Zhang Zhe delivered in-depth illustration of basic profile of cardiovascular and traditional Chinese medicine disciplines, medical and scientific research achievements and characteristic technologies, traditional medicine and rehabilitation, respectively.

Professor Begench H. Annayev introduced the construction of National Traditional Medical Center in Turkmenistan, hoping that bilateral sides can strengthen exchanges, carry out substantive cooperation including mutual visits, academic exchanges and short-term training, and jointly discuss, build and share medical achievements. Associate Professor Senthil Arun Kumar from India exchanged ideas on cardiovascular diseases and the role of traditional Chinese medicine in tumor immunotherapy.

He Changzhong concluded that the FAH of XJTU has continually deepened cooperation with multiple top-notched universities and medical institutions worldwide, and has formed an all-round, multi-level and diversified cooperation mode in medical technology, talent training and clinical scientific research. As the only affiliated hospital in XJTU undertaking the teaching task of Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) appointed by the Ministry of Education, it has trained 917 international undergraduates from more than 80 countries in recent 10 years, and also provided advanced medical services for friends from all over the world in Shaanxi province. He hoped that bilateral sides can establish concrete and sincere cooperation in the medical field.

After the meeting, all experts visited the Hospital History Museum, laboratory and ward of Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, and delivered in-depth disciplinary exchanges.

The FAH of XJTU will always adhere to the concept of "the Belt and Road Initiative", promote the building of "a community with a shared future for mankind", seize the opportunity of China-Central Asia Summit, continually play the role of a leader in the medical field in northwest China, deeply integrate the implementation of "the Belt and Road Initiative", strive to build a National Medical Center, and spread China’s medicine and culture to all parts of the world!
